About me
Mike's artistic journey began at an early age when he keenly observed the intricate lines, forms, colors, and cycles of life around him. This fascination drove him to start drawing as soon as he could hold a crayon. He finds inspiration in often-overlooked objects like decomposing wood, rusting padlocks, old makeshift toys, and crumbling fences, transforming these discarded items into the vibrant language of his palette.
A hallmark of Mike's art is his meticulous attention to detail. His finely blended colors and carefully placed elements create compelling focal points that draw viewers in. Embracing both minimalism and representation, he invites audiences to engage with his images, encouraging personal connections and interpretations.
In 1989, Mike embarked on his professional journey at an animation studio, transitioning to broadcast design as a motion designer three years later. By 2010, he had moved to San Francisco, continuing his work as a freelance motion graphic designer while passionately pursuing his art. With over 25 years of experience, Mike's impressive accolades include a Silver PromaxBDA for Best in Art Direction and Design for PSA, a Bronze Telly, and four NorCal Emmys for art direction in documentaries.
Mike believes that artists have a duty to help viewers connect their life stories to their work, offering new perspectives and acting as catalysts for change and portals to significant memories. Through his art, Mike aspires to inspire, evoke emotion, and foster a deeper connection with the world around us.
